`I hold an MA in English Literature from Leicester University, which I completed in 2012. Despite growing up in wartime Kurdistan, where the flickering light of a kerosene lantern was often my only companion, my passion for reading remained unwavering. I was born in the picturesque town of Soran in Iraqi Kurdistan, nestled among majestic mountains.
I am also a genocide and mass atrocity prevention activist. Most of these genocide and war stories have reached my ears through women—my grandmother, my mother, and women survivors from our community. Their voices haunt me, and I use my words to share, care, and transform loss into something creative and meaningful. Driven by these passions, I am actively involved in projects that amplify women’s narratives and literary works. As a Fulbright alumna, I pursued my second master’s degree in Creative Writing at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in the United States. My dream is for women to have the platform and agency to speak for themselves, fostering a deeper understanding that transcends borders.
Let’s work together to make this dream a reality and create a more equitable world where women’s voices are not only heard but also celebrated. and regards,
